Held every two years, Funergal, the International Trade Fair for Funeral Products and Services, returns to the Expourense´s calendar for its 13th edition from May 21st to 23rd. It will be the only international funeral industry trade fair held in the Iberian Peninsula this year and also the only professional meeting point that, in addition to showcasing new developments and fostering networking opportunities, offers the buying and selling of funeral products and services — in other words, business.

Funergal´s 13th edition was officially presented this morning at Expourense during an event attended by Rosendo Fernández, Provincial Deputy for Institutional Representation of the Provincial Council of Ourense; Alicia López, Regional Director of the Ministry of Economy and Industry; Rubén Campo, President of the Provincial Association of Funeral Companies of Ourense (APEFO), accompanied by other members of the association’s board; and Rogelio Martínez, Managing Director of Expourense.

Funergal 2026 will feature 44 exhibitors from a total of 10 countries (Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Ecuador, Spain, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, and Portugal). In addition to professional visitors from these same countries, which are represented in the exhibition area, professionals  who have already confirmed their attendance at the fair and will travel to Ourense from an additional ten countries. Particularly noteworthy is the strong presence of Portuguese professional visitors, who currently account for around 35% of those accredited so far.

Among the exhibitors at Funergal 2026 are leading companies and professional associations from the sector, presenting the latest innovations and trends in funeral products and services. The main objective of Funergal is to promote business, competitiveness, and  development within the industry, while also offering a wide range of new products tailored to the needs of different funeral professionals (from representatives of large corporations to family-run businesses) who will attend in increasing numbers from across the Iberian Peninsula.

Activities Program

Funergal 2026 will host presentations of innovative products and services by this year’s exhibitors. One of the new features of this edition will be the Funeral Floral Art Workshop led by Rita Soto, a florist from O Carballiño. It will take place on Thursday, May 21 at 12:00 p.m. and will showcase the latest trends in floral design. This activity is free of charge and open to everyone, not only funeral professionals.

The fair will also feature the exhibition “Cinenterios,” promoted by the Association of Municipal Funeral Services and Cemeteries AFCM-Cementerios Vivos, which offers a cinematic perspective that highlights the cultural heritage contained within cemeteries, presenting a contemporary vision of these spaces of remembrance. A horse-drawn funeral carriage provided by Grupo La Libélula from Valladolid will also be on display.

The Mexican foundation “Honor a quien Honor Merece,”, present at the fair, will grant its awards recognizing contributions to the international funeral sector by both companies and professionals. The ceremony will take place on Friday, May 22nd at 5:30 p.m.

Funergal is also a major meeting point for the funeral community, and for this reason it has organized a social program that includes a gala dinner, supported by Interfunerarias, allowing attendees to enjoy the renowned food and wine culture of the province of Ourense. The program will also include the traditional “pulpo á feira” hosted by APEFO, who will once again act as hosts. This gathering is always one of the most memorable moments of fellowship during the event and will serve as the closing highlight of the 13th edition.

This will also be the third edition of Funergal connected by High-Speed Rail. Ourense is now just 2 hours and 15 minutes from Madrid by high-speed train, a city that offers direct flight connections to 66 countries. This will facilitate the participation of exhibitors and, especially, national and international visitors. Those chosing to travel by train will be able to benefit from a 10% discount thanks to the agreement with RENFE.

Funergal opening hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 21st and 22nd, and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23rd. Information about the fair can be found on its website www.funergal.com, or through its Facebook and Instagram profiles.
