Biennial in nature, Funergal, the International Fair for Funeral Products and Services, returns to the Expourense calendar to celebrate its 12th edition between May 16 and 18, 2024. It is the only professional meeting point on the Peninsula that, in addition to training specialized and relational capital, offers purchase and sale of funeral products and services, that is, business.
A few days ago, the fair’s advisory committee meeting was held in a hybrid way (combining physical and virtual presence), in which professionals from the funeral sector from Spain and Portugal participated. Led by the director of Funergal, Rogelio Martínez, this meeting was attended by the National Association of Funeral Services (PANASEF); of the National Association of Municipal Entities and Companies of Funeral and Cemetery Services (AFCM); of the Spanish Association of Funeral Services Professionals (AESPROF); of the Associaçao dos Agentes Funerarios de Portugal; from the Galician Federation of Funeral Services FEGASERFU; of the Galician Association of Funeral Services Companies AGESEF; of the territorial leadership of the Department of Health of the Xunta de Galicia; from the ICEX Foreign Trade Institute in Galicia; from the Provincial Association of Funeral Companies of Ourense APEFO; of The Funeral Guide and the Observatory of Funeral Services. The members of the advisory committee showed their support and commitment to disseminate the celebration of the fair among their associates and reviewed the topics that will be addressed in the training actions of this event.
Funergal 2024 has exhibitors and visits from businessmen in the sector from 9 countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Mexico, Ecuador, El Salvador and China), a number that will grow at the time of its celebration since it is still Commercial negotiations are open pending the latest international confirmations. From Funergal they highlight the high degree of loyalty on the part of the regular exhibitors to whom they have added new ones.
With regard to specialized training, the 3rd International Congress of Funeral Directors will be held, which will address the topics indicated by the members of the organizing committee of the event and which will address current events in the sector from different perspectives. Among other topics, the Mortuary Health Decree of Galicia will be discussed; of the new Vocational Training Law, a challenge for funeral companies; Crisis Communication in the funeral sector: the power of social networks in Tributes in Life; different thanatological processes or the role of Cemeteries in their environmental commitment and in the face of climate change. Experts from the Albia Group and PANASEF will also participate as speakers.
Funergal is also a great meeting point for the funeral family and that is why it has organized a social program that includes a visit to a winery from the Ribeiro Designation of Origin and a gala dinner, which has the support of Interfunerarias, so that they can enjoy the excellent food and wine of the province of Ourense.
It is also the second edition of Funergal with High Speed. Ourense is now 2 hours and 15 minutes from Madrid by high speed, a city connected with direct flights to 66 countries. This will facilitate the participation of exhibitors and, above all, national and international visitors.
